The Study Skills Primer is designed to address the frustration that many students have when they know they need to study or when told to go study. For many, they have no idea how to attack the task, or they only know one way to study everything no matter what kind of information it is.
The Study Skills Primer gives students several ways to study depending on the material to be covered, and teaches them to choose appropriate study methods for any type of material.
The Study Skills Primer provides a comprehensive foundation of skills that include note-taking techniques, study strategies, and ways to improve memory.
Course Ware:
The course will be taught twice a week for 8 weeks (16 hours). Students will not need any extra materials except paper and pen or pencil. Some assignments will be done with their own schoolwork.
Who should enroll in the course?
The Study Skills Primer is designed for students who have completed grade 5, specifically for grades 6 – 10.
Why they should enroll in the course?
Students who know how to study have a distinct advantage over those who don’t. Along with being a good reader, it is one of the most important things in a student’s arsenal for success in school. Since it is rarely taught in schools, a foundation like the one in this course can only help a student to improve his or her academic performance.
An experienced and award-winning teacher, who also has taught another study skills course at a local tutoring company, created this course, so she knows what good study skills are from two perspectives—teacher and tutor. All of those factors were brought to bear as the course was designed.
